Euro-zone Jan. factory PMI up more than forecast

Posted In: News

LONDON (MarketWatch)– The final manufacturing purchasing managers index for the 16-nation euro zone rose more than expected to a two-year high of 52.4 in January, Markit Economics reported Monday. The final reading exceeded a preliminary estimate, which had shown a rise to 52.0 from 51.6 in December. A reading of more than 50 means a majority of managers saw an increase in activity, while a figure of less than 50 means a majority saw a decline. The index has been above the neutral 50 level for four consecutive months.
